  1. CONTENTS:

  3. This is a module from the DINOSAVER screen saver.  It is run using
  4. the Windows desktop screensaver accessed from the Control Panel. A 
  5. Dinosaur runs across your screen and chases your icons, and catches
  6. them, leaving a "hole"  that eventually clears the screen with a message
  7. behind them.  The message also eventually disappears.  Sound effects are
  8. included.  Included in this zipfile are:
  9.

  22. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
  23.  
  24. In order to run the DEMO DINOSAVER module you need to copy it
  25. into the Windows directory and tell Windows to use it. 
  26.  
  27. Copy the file DINOICON.SCR into the Windows directory on your hard disk. 
  28. For example, if you copied the file onto a 3.5" diskette drive, and this 
  29. is B: on your computer, then you would type: 
  30.  
  31.         "Copy B:\DINOICON.SCR C:\windows\*.*"
  32.  
  33. Next you need to tell Windows to run it. From the Control
  34. Panel, double click on the Desktop Icon. When the Dialog box
  35. appears,  select "Icon Chase" from the list of screen savers.
  36. This is done by moving down to the screen saver section and
  37. clicking on the down arrow on the right side of the "Name"
  38. list box. Once the list appears move the cursor to "Icon Chase"
  39. and click on it.  The Setup button allows you to turn on sound
  40. (if you are using the PC speaker driver or sound board card) or 
  41. allows you to set the evasiveness of the icons (High, Medium, or Low)
  42. and whether to animate all of your icons or just one (default).

  45. DINOSAVER OVERVIEW:

  50. Take an expedition to the Mesozoic Era with DINOSAVER. Your
  51. screen will be protected from phosphor burn-in by a massive
  52. Brontosaurus who crushes your windows, by a ravenous T-Rex who
  53. chases and devours your Icons, by a fearsome Triceratops who 
  54. attacks it, or by a Deinonychus who viciously shreds it. You will
  55. also encounter apprehensive Struthiomimus eluding a frightful
  56. Tyrannosaurus, a peaceful Brachiosaurus herd dining upon lush
  57. vegetation, and Mesozoic sportsmen captured in their favorite
  58. sports settings. Included are many other fun modules that
  59. entertain and educate while protecting your monitor.

  61. DINOSAVER includes user-configurable modules complete with
  62. sound effects and on-line help plus two interactive modules: Dino
  63. Trivia and Dino Engineering.  
  64.  
  65.      Dino Trivia satisfies your appetite for dinosaur facts by
  66.      providing over 1,000 challenging multiple-choice questions.
  67.      In the non-interactive mode, questions and answers are
  68.      automatically displayed for you. In the interactive mode the
  69.      computer measures your performance as you answer the
  70.      questions.

  72.      Dino Engineering allows you to measure your genetic
  73.      engineering skills by combining color-coded DNA strands into
  74.      fascinating new dinosaurs. The outcome of your engineering
  75.      is automatically displayed and the dinosaur's chance for
  76.      survival is assessed.

  78. DINOSAVER's modules are accessed through an intuitive graphical
  79. user interface.  The main control panel provides a variety of
  80. functions that allow you to customize your copy:

  82.      Help: The on-line help system provides you with the
  83.      information you'll need to enjoy DINOSAVER.
  84.  
  85.      Modules:  DINOSAVER's modules are selected by  clicking on
  86.      the desired title.  The behavior of the selected module can
  87.      then by customized through the Setup button.  Once
  88.      configured, the Demo button can be used to preview the
  89.      screen saver.

  91.      Run Multiple Modules: DINOSAVER supports "Module Switching". 
  92.      That is, when the screen saver activates, DINOSAVER can run one
  93.      module for a while and then switch to another and so on. You can
  94.      set the time that each module will run.
  95.  
  96.      Password Protection:  DINOSAVER can protect your system from
  97.      unwanted visitors by requiring a password to be entered
  98.      before returning control to Windows. 
  99.  
  100.      Security Log: It also maintains a security log that will
  101.      allow you to determine if someone shutdown your system in
  102.      order to defeat the password protection.
  103.  
  104.      Screen Control Corners: DINOSAVER's control corners allow
  105.      you to activate it immediately or to prevent it from running
  106.      at all.

  108.      Delay Time: DINOSAVER monitors the activity of your mouse
  109.      and keyboard. When it detects inactivity over a specified
  110.      period of time, the selected screen saver module(s) is
  111.      started.

  125. This agreement is between you, the end user and Fiore Industries Inc. 
  126. The copying of Demonstration Module constitutes the commencement of a 
  127. contract in which you are agreeing to use this software only upon the 
  128. terms and conditions set forth herein. This license agreement supersedes 
  129. any prior license agreement between you and Fiore Industries Inc.

  131. Grant of License: Fiore Industries grants you the right to use, and copy, 
  132. the Demonstration module free of charge. 
  133.  
  134. Copyright: DINOSAVER and the Demonstration module are owned by Fiore 
  135. Industries and are protected by United States copyright laws. You are 
  136. however, allowed to make copies of this Demonstration Module. You may NOT 
  137. use, decompile, disassemble, reverse engineer, create a derivative
  138. work or copy the Demonstration Module except as stated in this agreement.

  140. Restrictions: You may not rent, lease, or sell the DINOSAVER Demonstration 
  141. Module.

  143. Limited Warranty: This software is supplied "AS IS". The warranty granted 
  144. herein is in lieu of any other warranties expressed or implied, including 
  145. the implied warranty of merchantability and the implied warranty of fitness 
  146. for a particular purpose. Fiore Industries, and its suppliers, will NOT be 
  147. liable for any damages whatsoever including, but not limited to loss of 
  148. business or to any incidental or consequential damages. Irrespective of the 
  149. foregoing, you should consult local law for any warranty that may apply to
  150. you.
